Book week to be celebrated at library

Staff reports

A celebration of books and music will take place at the Douglas County Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 22 starting at 12:30 p.m.

Children from Rhythm and Moves will perform dances to “Pocahontas” and “White Christmas.” At 1 p.m., students from Marty Swisher’s Carson Valley Middle School ninth-grade speech class will perform stories with props and costumes. Clifford, the big red dog, a favorite of many children, will be performing in “Clifford’s Family” by Norman Bridwell. “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” by Jon Scieszka will be another children’s favorite.

“These students have put a lot of work into presenting these stories,” said Children’s Librarian Carol Slavik. “It will be a real treat!”

Amelia Bedelia will also be performing bits and pieces from her many books by Peggy Parish.

“If you haven’t seen Amelia Bedelia in person before, this is a must see!” Slavik said. “Come for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.”
