Bishop presides over installation ceremony at St. Gall Church
The Most Rev. Phillip Straling, bishop of the Greater Diocese of Reno, presided Sunday at formal ceremonies to install Father Bill Nadeau, O.M.I., as pastoral administrator at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
Father John Corona, who retired as pastor of St. Gall in June, also participated in the ceremony.
Parishioner Julian Larrouy served as master of ceremonies and began with a para-liturgy representing the more than two dozen lay ministries which serve members of the parish and community..Representatives of each group poured a vial of colored sand into a large glass vase to symbolize the mingling of the ministries of St. Gall “to form one radiant whole.”
Composer and musician Ted Dollarhide led the St. Gall combined choirs in special music for the installation.
The event was followed by a reception prepared by members of the St. Gall Women’s Society.
Approximately 400 people attended the Mass and reception.
Father Nadeau serves for one year as administrator of the 750-family parish.
At that time, he will decide, along with the bishop and members of St. Gall parish, if he will be assigned as pastor for six years.
Nadeau, 61, came to St. Gall in July after a 25-year career in prison ministry.
