Beta Sigma Phi plans annual 5K, 10K race

The 11th annual Beta Sigma Phi “Coyote Chase,” 5K and 10K runs and 2-mile walk, will be held Saturday, June 13 in Smith Valley.

The race will take place on flat, quiet back roads in the community of Smith Valley with a starting time of 8:30 a.m., according to race director Sandra Jurey. The event will start at Smith Valley High School on Day Lane off Highway 208.

Coyote trophies will be presented to the top three men and women finishers in the 5K and 10K. Ribbons will go to the first three finishers in each age group in the 5K and 10K, she said.

In addition to taking home an attractive T-shirt, each participant can have his or her fill of “carbo” at the pancake breakfast hosted by Smith Valley Youth Baseball. The breakfast is open to the public.

Baby sitting will be provided free of charge during the race.

The Country Affair will feature crafts, games, a book sale and musical entertainment.
