BABES program at the library

Staff reports

Puppets, Buttons and Bow McKitty and their friends teach life skills through the BABES program for ages 4 and up.

The program will run for five weeks starting Jan. 13 and ending Feb. 10. It will be from 4:15 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden.

BABES stands for Beginning Alcohol and Addictions Basic Education Studies. The program emphasizes developing positive living skills and provides children with accurate, non-judgmental information about the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs.

The lessons include self-image and feelings, decision-making and peer pressure, coping skills, alcohol and other drug information, helping children from chemically-dependent homes and review and certification.
