Assistant county manager interviews set for Aug. 7
After reviewing more than 100 applications, Douglas County has narrowed the field down to eight applicants for the position of assistant county manager. The job posted in May and closed on June 12. Following the closing date, qualified candidates received phone interviews and Human Resources chose eight candidates to proceed to the panel interview.
Panel interviews are scheduled for Aug. 7. The panel consists of elected officials, employee representatives, department directors, and leadership from neighboring counties.
The panel will select 2-3 candidates to proceed to the final process, which will include the chance to interact with the public at during a reception and a final interview with County Manager, Larry Werner. A date and time for this reception is still to be announced.
The assistant county manager will provide assistance and support to the county manager in making decisions and recommendations regarding the overall operations of the county as well as serving to represent the county in dealings with public officials from other jurisdictions, representatives of private industry, and members of the general public.
Previously the assistant county manager and chief financial officer was a dual role. The Douglas County Commissioners added the new position, which separated the two roles into the 2017/2018 fiscal year budget.
