Arts meeting set for Gardnerville
Bring your questions, comments and a friend to the “Statewide Conversation on the Arts!”
Residents in the Gardnerville area can help determine the future of the arts in Nevada by participating in an arts town meeting on March 28 at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School.
In the face of diminishing national funding for the arts in general, along with Nevada’s rapid growth rate, the Nevada Arts Council (NAC) is turning to the public to help with the continuation of NAC’s strategic plan. In order to get public comments, Executive Director Susan Boskoff and her staff and council are conducting a series of arts town meetings this year in 23 locations throughout the state.
“We’ll compile the information you give us from the arts town meetings and draft a continuation of our strategic plan, which we’ll discuss at the statewide arts conference scheduled for October,” said Boskoff.
The Gardnerville meeting, co-hosted by the Douglas County Arts Council, runs from 3 to 5 p.m at PWLMS, 701 Long Valley Road. For more information, contact Suzanne Channell at the Nevada Arts Council (687-6680) or John O’Neill at 267-3495.
In addition to the meeting in Gardnerville, NAC will conduct “Statewide Conversation on the Arts!” meetings in Reno on March 26, Virginia City on March 31, Carson City on April 8, Pahrump on April 30 and South Lake Tahoe on May 5.
NAC’s “Statewide Conversation on the Arts!” meetings have already taken place in Hawthorne, Tonopah, Eureka, Las Vegas, Boulder City, Mesquite, Overton and Panaca.
