Artists to hear framing tips

Staff reports

The Carson Valley Art Association members will hold their next meeting on Friday, Nov. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden. Guest speaker will be Lisa Millman Brown from Lone Tree Frame Co. and Gallery in Minden.

She will speak about the importance of proper framing, and will instruct the group on what to look for in framing a picture as well as what to look for in a frame shop. She will present the “do’s and don’t’s” to help make a more professional choice of framing.

Some choices regarding framing, like metal, wood, etc., will be discussed, and Brown will demonstrate some of the different creative matting techniques such as texturing, painting and carving mats.

This meeting is open to the public and should appeal not only to the artist who is trying to find the most harmonious way in which to frame pictures, but to the general public as well.

The art association welcomes everyone to this informative talk. Also, the association welcomes the public to view the artworks that will appear at New Treehouse Nursery and Gallery in Gardnerville on Nov. 20, and which will be on display until the middle of January.
