Call for artists
The Carson Valley Art Association’s Carson Valley Days Show is June 7-9 in the CVIC Hall in Minden.
This is a juried, and not judged show with a People’s Choice ribbon awarded.
Receiving is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 6.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 7, with an artists’ reception 6-8 p.m.
Saturday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pickup is 3-4 p.m.

Textile artist recognized
Gardnerville resident Nancy Ryan has been selected to be an Artist in Residence at Empty Spools Seminars at Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, Calif., on May 26-31.
The seminar is a gathering of textile artists who take instruction from some of the top-tier instructors in the textiles field.
During opening ceremonies Ryan will discuss her work with textiles over the last 30 years, and 15 of her quilts will be on display.
Ryan has been juried into many textile shows from the San Francisco Design Center, to one woman shows displaying her art. Her work is hanging in Markleeville’s Art and Soul Gallery, and Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City.
She has displayed pieces in the Carson Valley Art Association Scholarship Show, East Fork Gallery’s Miniature Show, and Carson Valley Quilt Guild Show, winning awards for her submissions.
Ryan is also a member of the Studio Art Quilt Association, and has sold many of her donated pieces online to help support the organization.
She will be teaching workshops on the art of freestyle quilting July 19-21, and self portraiture Aug. 22-25 at Fabric Chicks, 1166 Annie Court, Unit C, Minden.
