Antique tractor and engine show is planned

Staff reports

The third annual Antique Tractor, Engine, Car and Truck Show will be Aug. 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Aug. 16, beginning at 8 a.m.

Antique engine and tractor collectors and families are invited for an event that should be fun for everyone, said Bill Ramsden, one of the organizers.

The event will take place north on Heybourne Road, off Stephanie Lane, in the Johnson Lane area.

Antique tractors, engines and tractor pulls will be on display. New this year are Model T Club and Model A Club displays. Many other historic farm and mining exhibits are planned.

The featured tractor this year is a 1916 Holt/Caterpillar. A line drawing of the tractor will be featured on all T-shirts, hats and buttons that will be for sale at the show, Ramsden said.

“The show has been very successful and enjoyed by the public for the first two years,” Ramsden added. “It is very educational, as it relates to the turn of the century history.”

Tractor pulls and parades and a working museum of how machinery was used in the late 1900s and early 1900s are sure to please the visitors, he said.

A drawing for an antique engine will take place. Concessions will be on sale by the Sertoma.

Cost is $3 at the gate, and under 12 are free. Proceeds for the gate and the concessions will go to charities.
