Walshes celebrate 50 years
February 26, 2017
County Commissioner Larry Walsh and his wife Judy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 4.
The two met in 1966 while he was serving in the U.S. Army. He was visiting his sister in San Franciso, and she introduced Larry and Judy. They were engaged three days later. They married eight months later in Old St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco and honeymooned in the Tahoe area, not imagining they would later live in the area.
A federal government employee, Judy transferred to Ft. Lewis in Washington where Larry was stationed. After his 1968 discharge they moved to New York City, where he earned a bachelor's degree at St. John's University and their daughter, Denise, was born. They then relocated to California, where their son Shawn was born in 1972. They moved to Douglas County 26 years ago from Danville, Calif.
They have two grandchildren, Gatlin, 13, and Hunter, 11.
