Safe Haven Rescue Kennel rides for dogs
August 21, 2015
Safe Haven Rescue Kennel focuses on rescuing, repairing, rehabilitating and finding new homes for animals in Northern Nevada.
The Yerington-based nonprofit animal sanctuary is hosting its first-ever poker run to help offset the costs of helping the animals.
"This is a neat opportunity to get the word out about Safe Haven" Fundraising committee member Lori McCaskill said. "They tend to take on dogs that are in dire straights that may not have resources to be rehabilitated and rehomed."
The poker run will tour Carson Valley starting and ending at Jethro's Sports Bar, 1281 Kimmerling Road in Gardnerville, with stops at Iggy & Squiggy's at Holbrook Junction, The Genoa Bar, Wolf Creek Inn in Markleeville and Hamdogs.
Riders can participate in silent auctions and raffles at each stop.
"We're getting a different demographic of people involved because we're doing a poker run," McCaskill said.
