Beginning Irish Dance
Ages 7–17 can learn the basic techniques and steps of traditional Irish dance. Class held 6:15-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, April 9–30 at the Dance Workshop. Cost is $55.
Beginner’s Tai Chi
Learn this soft martial arts form that will include warm ups, exercises and repetitions. Class held Saturdays and is ongoing. Cost is $5 per month.
World Tai-Chi/Oi Gong Day
This free event in the Minden Park held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 27 is for anyone interested in improving their health and well being. Free.
Introduction to Soaring
Learn the basics of soaring including what it takes to fly a glider, as well as the basic aerodynamics and performance of gliders. Class held 6-9 p.m. April 23 at SoaringNV, Minden-Tahoe Airport. Cost is $30.
Concealed Weapon Certification
This course will cover the requirements for Nevada State CCW and can be taken by CCW applicants or anyone wanting to learn to shoot handguns. Class taught 6-9:30 p.m. April 17 and 19 at the Recreation Annex building, and 8-11 a.m. April 20 at Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost is $95 plus an additional $10 insurance fee payable to the instructor. Spouses are half price.
Dog Obedience
Learn to establish good conduct and curb bad habits and help you teach basic commands. Class held 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays, April 3–May 29 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building. Cost is $80.
Ballroom Dancing
This is a chance to learn and practice the fundamental of many popular dances. Class will be 7:30-8:30 p.m. Fridays, April 5–26. Cost is $80 per couple or $45 for single.
Silk Painting Class
This class will teach you how to paint on silk squares with silk dye which can be made into a wall hanging or pillow. Class held 1-4 p.m. every Monday and Tuesday, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays at the Heart Strings Gallery. Cost is $48 per class.
Introduction to Junior Golf
Age 5–16 will learn the basics of golf including rules, etiquette, putting and chipping. All equipment is included. Class held noon April 13 for ages 5-6, 1:30 p.m. for ages 7-8, and 3 p.m. for ages 9-16 at the Carson Valley Golf Course. Cost is $20.
