Minden son graduates from Naval Academy
Marine Corps 2nd Lt. William H. Coats, son of David Wasick, of Minden, recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank.
Coats successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training.
As a graduate of the Naval Academy, Coats completed a four-year, total-immersion program where a strong, balanced academic program focused on the educational needs of the Navy and Marine Corps, is superimposed on a strict, professional military training environment emphasizing the development of leadership skills.
Coats is a 2008 graduate of Robert Louis Stevenson High School of Monterey, Calif.
West named to Waynesburg dean’s list
Minden resident Mariah C. West was named to the dean’s list at Waynesburg University. West is a Sierra Lutheran High School graduate and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration. She is a sophomore at Waynesburg.
DeGiovanni makes dean’s list
Gardnerville resident Tanner DeGiovanni was one of 159 students to be named to the dean’s list at the University of Nevada, Reno’s College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources for the spring 2013 semester. DeGiovanni is a 2012 graduate of Douglas High School. He competed on the UNR mountain bike team, winning the men’s B-division for the Western Collegiate Cycling Conference. He is the son of Todd and Tammy DeGiovanni. He is seeking a degree in biochemistry.
King graduates from Linfield College
David Anthony King of Stateline graduated from Linfield College on June 2. King earned a bachelor’s degree in business. A total of 663 candidates for degrees were presented at the commencement ceremony.
Morgan named to Sterling College dean’s list
Hunter Morgan of Stateline was recently named to the Sterling College dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.
