AARP will hear from state president

The Carson Valley Chapter of AARP #3683 will meet Thursday, April 5, at 4 p.m. at the Douglas County Senior Services Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville.

Speaker will be Marlene Rengert, acting AARP state president for Nevada. She will present a program honoring volunteers.

There will be a potluck and silent auction following the business portion of the meeting. Everyone is asked to provide a hot dish or salad to share and a new or used item for the silent auction.

A bus trip to Boomtown is planned for April 25 has been filled. To be placed on a waiting list in case of cancellations, call Jerry Rasmussen, 265-9406.

Chapter dues are delinquent April 1. Members should send their dues to P.O. Box 1976, Gardnerville 89410.

The chapter provides information, services and activities to help enhance the quality of life for seniors, offering education, information about legislation, health care and wellness, economic security and life planning, as well as consumer information and protection.

The chapter provides service programs such as Tax Aide, AARP safe driving program, connections for independent living and grief and loss counseling.
