AARP to offer driving course

Carson Valley Chapter 3683 of the American Association of Retired Persons will hold a 55 Alive/Mature Driving Course on Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Minden Medical Center, Highway 395 and Ironwood Drive, Minden. There will be a break for lunch.

The course is an 8-hour refresher session dealing with normal age- related physical changes, rules of the road, safety precautions and other awareness situations facing all drivers.

The course fee is $8, payable by check at the time of the session. The fee covers the cost of materials. Instructors are volunteers certified by the state of Nevada. At the completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate good for three years.

Nevada state law mandates that insurance companies grant an appropriate discount to seniors for class participation. It is wise to contact your insurance company for policies and procedures.

The public is invited to attend the 55 Alive/Mature Driving Course. Classes are by reservation and fill up fast, so register early. For information and reservations, call Harlan Casebier at 265-4149.
