AARP to go to Ponderosa

Staff reports

There will be no regularly scheduled meeting of the Carson Valley chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons in July.

Instead, a fun-filled day is planned at the Ponderosa Ranch near Incline Village on July 15, starting with a hayride-breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $11.50 per person and includes the hayride-breakfast and entrance to the park for the day.

Everyone planning to attend will need to provide their own transportation or hitch a ride with a friend. Directions to the Ponderosa Ranch are as follows: From Carson Valley, take 395 N. toward Carson City, turn on Highway 50 W. toward Lake Tahoe, turn on Highway 28 toward Incline Village.

The Ponderosa is approximately 11 miles further on the right-hand side of Highway 28, before Incline Village. Participants should meet at the main gate at 8:30 a.m.

“Grab your cowboy hat, and come on out and enjoy the camaraderie of the old west,” said Faye Pekar of the AARP.
