AARP plans 55/Alive driving course in July

Staff reports

American Association of Retired Persons 55 Alive/Mature Driving Course will be held July 24 from 9 4 p.m. at the Minden Medical Center, located at Highway 395 and Ironwood Drive. There will be a break for lunch.

The course is an eight-hour refresher session dealing with normal age-related physical changes, rules of the road, safety precautions and other awareness situations facing all drivers.

The course fee is $8, payable by check at the time of the session. The fee covers the cost of materials. Instructors are volunteers certified by the state of Nevada.

At the completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate good for three eyars. Nevada state law mandates that insurance companies grant an appropriate discount to seniors for class participation. It is wise to contact your insurance company for policies and procedures.

Classes are by reservation, which should be made early. AARP membership is not required.
