4-H Youth Fair set for county fairgrounds
The Douglas County 4-H Youth Fair will be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville July 27-30.
On Thursday, the event will be set up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members may enter their static exhibits in the pavilion from 4 to 6 p.m., and at 4 p.m, public speaking competition and demonstrations will be held.
On Friday, judging of the static exhibits will take place, and at 6 p.m., the judging of dairy goats followed by pack goats will be held in the pole barn.
On Saturday, the Douglas County sharpshooters will open the snack shack at 7 a.m. Market animal weigh-in will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the pole barn. Poultry will be checked in at 8:30 a.m. in the pavilion and horses from 8 to 9 a.m. in the arena. The Western horse show will be held all day.
The dog show check-in is 8 to 9 a.m. in the pavilion, followed by the show.
The Douglas County 4-H Youth Fair Livestock Show will begin at 9 a.m. in the pole barn, and the master showmanship competition will take place at 1 p.m. or immediately following the show. First and second place winners from each showmanship class will compete.
The Shooting Sports competition will be held on Sunday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. , and the Douglas County Shooting Range will be closed to the public during that time. For those of you having an interest in getting your kids involved in 4-H, spectators are welcome and the best time to see the most activity would be on Saturday.
