4-H Sierra Riders work out at Leising Ranch
On Nov. 5, the Sierra Riders 4-H horse club hosted a trail ride on the Nate Leising Ranch on Highway 88. The day started at 1 p.m. and went to 5 p.m. The weather was cold, but sunny.
There were 24 kids with horses, four kids without horses and five kids who were non-members.
First, members went over first aid and safety. After 1:45, horses were saddled up and everyone got in line. At 2 p.m., they rode through obstacles and then went out on the trail. They were on the trail for about an hour and a half.
Around 3:30 p.m., riders got back, unsaddled the horses and started games. All the families provided their own meat and a dish for the potluck dinner held from 4-5 p.m.
Sierra Riders also had an election Nov. 2. New officers are Courtney Kemp, president; Cassie Dotts, vice president; Amber Hoogenstraat, secretary; Amy Darouze and Briana Miller, historians; Ashley Barnett, reporter; Aaron Leising, Clay Sedgewick and Jessica Vega, sergeants-of-arms.
Sierra Riders would like to thank Nate Leising for his hospitality and the generous use of his property.
