A Douglas County man is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail after his arrest for allegedly having child sexual abuse material.
Jason Alexander Browne, 36, has been in custody since May 15 facing charges of possession of images depicting sexual conduct of someone under the age of 16.
He appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Friday where Chief Prosecutor Chelsea Mazza said investigators received a tip that Browne was using a messaging application to upload children preforming sex acts.
She said he had numerous accounts to the app because he’d been kicked off several times for violating their terms.
During an interview with investigators, he allowed them to look at his phone where he indicated that 70 percent of the pornography was of children, Mazza related.
She said that if convicted, Browne could face the possibility of prison.
Attorney Brian Filter said that Browne had lived in the area since he was 13 and was a Marine combat veteran.
“Without minimizing the seriousness of the offense, we’re not talking about any hands-on direct victimization. He’s not a risk to the community.”
