Genoa, Nev. — East Fork Fire Protection District trustees approved spending $288,500 to purchase a masticator and associated equipment to increase work that can be done by its fuels management team.
The team will see four seasonal firefighters working fire prevention this summer. The trustees issued a proclamation recognizing the Wildfire Awareness Campaign on Tuesday.
The district is also purchasing a new 2,000-gallon Boise Mobile Equipment water tender for $448,110. The tender will help fight fires in those areas of East Fork Township that aren’t covered by hydrants.
District trustees approved a $28.9 million budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year starting on July 1. The district is within a fifth of a point of having a 13 percent ending fund balance of $2.86 million.
