The Douglas High School swim and dive teams completed their seasons at the Class 5A state meet in Reno over the weekend at the Moana Springs complex.

The Tiger girls finished in 13th with eight team points while the boys were 7th with 23 team points.

Matthew Sutton swam in two individual events for the Tigers, finishing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.30 and third in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.10.

In the 100-yard butterfly, junior Baylen Rowlett took seventh in 56.09.

In the 1-meter dive, Kiley Wagstaff took sixth place for the girls with a score of 302.45.

On the boys side, Kai Ensign (300.70) and Timothy Gleason (253.20) were third and fourth, respectively, in the boys 1-meter dive.

Caitlin Taylor, a junior, took sixth place in the girls 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.77.

In the girls 400-yard freestyle relay, Douglas took eighth in 3:50.95 with Taylor, Carli Stevenson, Mia Bourassa and Tierra Mackay.


DOUGLAS TRACK

Senior Luke Davis earned a spot on the podium at this weekend’s Class 5A state track and field meet at Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas.

Davis finished fourth in the 3,200-meter run, earning a medal and finishing his high school career with a time of 9:36.02. He was the top finisher of the Northern Nevada entrants in the race.

Davis was sixth in the 1,600 in 4:24.29.

The senior also qualified with the Tigers’ 4x400 relay, which took seventh place in 3:28.83 between Davis, Zak Weddel, CJ Berra and Darryl Hinkle.

On the girls side, Katelyn Coons took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, putting up the quickest time from any Northern qualifier with a 15.94.

Coons also competed in the 300-meter hurdles, putting together a time of 48.50 to finish in seventh.

Grace Strabala-Karosich finished in seventh in the Class 5A girls 200-meter dash with a time of 26.40.

Strabala-Karosich joined Bryani Ono, Alexsa Reyes and Anna Patmont in the 4x100 relay where the Tigers were sixth in 49.92.

Ono, a freshman, took part in the state long jump event where she finished in seventh with a best leap of 15 feet, nine inches.

In the 4x200 relay, the Tiger girls pairing of Reyes, Coons, Rachel Girdner and Patmont crossed the finish line in seventh in 1:45.51.

As a team, the Douglas girls finished in 16th place with 15 points.

The Tiger boys were 15th with 10 team points.

DOUGLAS GOLF CAPS SEASON AS STATE

The Douglas High School boys golf finished sixth at state tournament on the Red Hawk Lakes course.

The Tigers had a two-day team score of 705.

Mason Peck led the with an 82-81–163 to tie for 21st.

Evan Gularte finished tied for 36th with a 95-79–174.

London Cinciala shot a 186 while Jasper and Spur Elliot finished at 187.

Tasker Zane shot an even 200 to finish Douglas’ results.

At regionals, the Tiger boys finished second with a team score of 631.

Bishop Manogue won the Class 5A North regional tournament with a team score of 594.

Peck shot an opening round 67 on his way to a third place finish at regionals with a two-day score of 143.

Peck’s 67 was the lowest round of any competitor over the two-day tournament.

Gularte posted an 86-73–159 to tie for 11th alongside McQueen’s Cole Draper.

Jasper Elliot was 22nd with a two-day score of 164 while Spur Elliot was 25th after posting a 166.

Cinciala and Zane rounded out the Tiger competitors with scores of 171 and 178, respectively.
