Quilling caps career with honors

Carson High School alumni Camryn Quilling concluded her collegiate softball career with Colorado Christian this spring.

Quilling earned first team all-academic and first team all-conference honors for her play.

Quilling, who was named to the second team all-region squad by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, posted a .359 batting average with seven home runs and 35 RBIs.

In the outfield, Quilling finished with a perfect (1.000) fielding percentage and earned Gold Glove honors.

Colorado Christian finished with a 44-16 record – 36-8 in conference. The Cougars won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title, qualifying for the NCAA Division II regional tournament.

Colorado Christian went 1-2 in regionals with a 3-1 win over Oklahoma Christian before a 7-1 loss to UT-Tyler and a 4-1 loss to Oklahoma Christian.


DORAN LEADS NIC SOFTBALL

Corine Doran, a 2023 Carson High School graduate, led the North Idaho College softball team in several offensive statistics this spring.

Doran, a sophomore, posted a team-high in batting average (.370), doubles (15), RBIs (42) and total bases (79). She drew 21 walks and struck out just seven times in 127 at-bats.

North Idaho College finished with a 21-26 record.

NATIVIDAD, WINTHROP BASEBALL EYEING CONFERENCE TOURNEY

Gabe Natividad, a Douglas High School graduate, has a .331 batting average through 45 games for Winthrop University baseball.

Winthrop, which holds a 27-26 record, 11-10 in conference play, wraps the regular season this weekend against High Point (37-15, 17-4 in Big South Conference) before beginning the Big South Conference Tournament on May 21.

Natividad, a junior, has 56 hits with nine doubles, three triples and three home runs.

Natividad has posted 32 RBIs, has five stolen bases and has a team-high 26 hit-by-pitches to go alongside 21 walks.

Big South Tournament games can be streamed on ESPN+.


LEE, ROBERTS LEAD FEATHER RIVER SOFTBALL

Douglas High School alumni Lilyann Lee and Mya Roberts had impressive freshman seasons with Feather River College softball.

Lee led the team with a .429 average and .616 slugging percentage, putting together 48 hits, six home runs and 31 RBIs.

Roberts hit .276 with four doubles, two triples three home runs and 18 RBIs.

Feather River finished the season with a 22-14 record.


NYLAND MAKES 11 APPERANCES AS FRESHMAN

Douglas High School graduate Joshua Nyland stepped on the field 11 times in his freshman season with Marietta College lacrosse.

Nyland registered five goals and two assists as Marietta finished 8-8.


ROSE CAPS FRESHMAN SEASON WITH LAKE ERIE COLLEGE

Douglas High School alumna Rachel Rose concluded her freshman season with Lake Erie College lacrosse.

Rose finished the season fourth on the team in goals with 13 while tallying four assists. She recorded a hat trick March 21 against Davis and Elkins with three goals in a 13-11 loss.

Lake Erie College was 2-15.
