Genoa, Nev. — St. Gall Catholic Church is prepared for 500 people to attend Father John Corona’s funeral 11 a.m. today. I expect there will be some significant traffic on Centerville this morning.


The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Better Business Bureau are conducting a senior scam seminar 10 a.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center, 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.


Regional Transportation commissioners are scheduled to discuss awarding a $3.43 million contract to Aspen Developers Corp. for Phase 3 of Muller Lane Parkway, which is just north of Toler Lane. The commission meets 10 a.m. today.


Minden is conducting a ceremony opening the Westwood Park Splash Pad 4 p.m. today on Ironwood Drive in Minden.


The Paperboys are performing in the CVIC Hall 7 p.m. today for the last of the 2024-25 Carson Valley Arts Council concert season. Tickets might be available at the doors, which open at 6 p.m. if it hasn’t sold out.


Big Mama’s Car Show & Shine is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lampe Park. They’ve been running around 200 classic vehicles. The event is a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels and other senior causes.


Douglas High School’s Ag plant sale kicks off noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Plants will be available for purchase by cash or check. The sale continues through next week and into the weekend, or until the plants sell out.


The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 85 degrees today with the west wind picking up to around 5 mph this afternoon. The weekend looks fairly mild until the wind picks up on Sunday bringing in a new front.
