Journey Woodcock represented Tumbleweeds Gymnastics during regionals in Roseville, Calif., on May 4, where she placed first in four categories.

“This has been an incredible season of growth, strength, and success for 10-year-old Journey,” said a news release provided by Tumbleweeds Gymnastics owner Eddie McClain. “Competing as the only Excel Gold level athlete on her team, Journey has exemplified leadership, resilience, and fierce determination.”

With a new head coach guiding her this season, Woodcock showed exactly what it means to step forward, not back — embracing the challenges with a strong work ethic and an even stronger spirit.

“Through hours of practice both in the gym and at home, Journey stayed true to the affirmations she carried with her into every competition: Brave, Strong, and Consistent,” said McClain.

Her season was filled with incredible performances and podium placements. A standout moment came at the Rose Gold Invitational in Roseville, where Woodcock earned first place on beam, second place on floor, and missed first place in all-around by just 0.20 points.

“At every meet, Journey’s commitment shined — whether it meant early morning competitions, late nights traveling hundreds of miles, or putting in extra work on her own time,” said McClain. “Her love for gymnastics is evident in everything she does.”

At regionals Woodcock scored 9.6 on vault, 9.250 on bars, 9.650 on beam, and 9.625 on floor.

“Her coaches and community are beyond proud of all she has accomplished and can’t wait to see her finish this incredible season strong,” said McClain. “Tumbleweeds Gymnastics is honored to celebrate young athletes like Journey who embody perseverance, passion, and the true spirit of the sport.”
