Douglas High School will be the home site for this weekend’s Northern Nevada regional track and field meet.
This past Saturday, the Tigers competed in the Class 5A North regional trials, also in Minden, to qualify athletes for the upcoming finals.
Below is a list of Tiger qualifiers:
DOUGLAS BOYS
Starting with the Tiger boys, Darryl Hinkle will be in the regional meet after taking eighth in the trials at 22.67 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Hinkle also qualified for the 400-meter dash with a 50.90 in trials, taking fifth.
Senior Luke Davis will compete in the 800 and 1,600 after qualifying this past weekend.
Davis posted a 2:00.04 in the 800 for fifth and a 4:27.37 in the 1,600 to take third.
DOUGLAS GIRLS
On the girls side, Grace Strabala-Karosich will compete at regionals in the 200, after pacing fourth in 25.55.
Freshman Krystle Dixon took fifth in the 800 in 2:23.37 to qualify while Lucy Nord was eighth in the 1,600 in 5:34.81.
Junior Katelyn Coons took the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a 16.26, which is the second quickest mark in the event this season in the Class 5A North.
Autumn Petite also qualified in the 100-meter hurdles, taking eighth in 17.92.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Coons finished in second place with a 47.18 to qualify for regional while Rachel Girdner was third in 47.77 to punch her ticket to regionals as well.
Coons’ time of 47.18 in the trials was the second-quickest time recorded in the 5A this spring.
In the triple jump, freshman Kendall Cole recorded a leap of 32 feet, 8.5 inches for sixth place and a spot in the regional meet. Fellow freshman Azalyn Vasey was eighth with a mark of 32-5 to qualify in the same event.
In the long jump, freshman Bryani Ono posted a 15-6.25 to take fifth while freshman Kaley Hagopian cleared 4-8 in the high jump to tie for first and make regionals.
Malena Van Wagenen was also tied at 4-8, earning a spot at the regional meet in the high jump, as well.
Stella White cleared nine feet to qualify in the pole vault.
Senior Kailynn Dollar tossed the shot put 30-1.75 to take sixth and earn a spot.
