The county conducted eight snap polls as part of its road workshop on Wednesday, one of which asked residents about their priority for county thoroughfares.
One of the top answers was finishing the county’s portion of Muller Lane Parkway, which has been on the books for more than 30 years.
The county has posted that presentation to its website.
During County Commissioners budget session on Wednesday morning, Chief Operating Officer Kathy Lewis said that there is $15.6 million cash available to build 3.2 miles of two-lane road by the end of this year.
In response to a question during the budget session, county officials said that the cash set aside for the road is sufficient to handle any eminent domain costs involved with drainage.
On Monday, the county is scheduled to appear before the Water Conveyance Advisory Board to seek their recommendation for the southernmost half-mile portion of the road just north of Toler Lane along the edge of the Ashland Park subdivision.
Work on the segment will include installing a roundabout at the intersection with Toler just east of Stodick Park.
The advisory board, which consists entirely of ranchers, heard the portion of the road south Buckeye Road and the segment next to Ashland Park.
This is the second segment the advisory board has heard, so far this year. On Jan. 6, advisors took no action after David Park protested the effort.
The project was approved by the county engineer on Jan. 7, and work on that segment is underway now.
According to the county, the route will cross the Park Ditch near the northern boundary of Ashland Park that will require a 10-foot wide box culvert.
Unlike the segment north of Buckeye Road, the county said it doesn’t anticipate requiring any additional land outside of the right-of-way.
The Water Conveyance Advisory Committee meets 4 p.m. Monday in room 306 of the Minden Inn.
There is a lawsuit pending between the owners of Ashland Park and the county that is scheduled to go to trial in December.
According to court documents, a notice of appeal has been filed in the case dealing with the denial of a preliminary injunction earlier this year.
