Genoa, Nev. — A winter weather advisory is in effect starting 5 a.m. for Western Nevada above 5,500 feet through 11 p.m. today. There was a little snow mixed in with the rain in Genoa around the time the advisory kicked off this morning.
Chain or snow tire controls are in effect over Spooner and Daggett summits this morning, with the nvroads.com camera showing somewhat sloppy conditions over the top of Kingsbury Grade. It’s nothing commuters over the Grade haven’t seen a half dozen times this year.
California Highway Patrol responded around 5 a.m. to a vehicle on its top on Highway 89 near Luther Pass north of Hope Valley. East Fork and Tahoe Douglas are responding to a collision on Highway 50 near Spooner Summit for a reported single vehicle rollover around 6:10 a.m.
I have nearly a half inch of rain in my gauge this morning. The snow level is forecast to drop to 4,700 feet this afternoon. Will it snow in the Valley today? Probably not much, but we shall see.

The state is revising its commercial property tax cap data from 8 to 6.1 percent. That will affect the amount of revenue the county receives, but Chief Financial Officer Kathy Lewis said she wants some time to weigh the impact.
Today’s forecast calls for rain and snow showers before 11 a.m., then rain showers until 5 p.m. then rain mixed with snow. The high temperature is predicted to hit 49 degrees with the southwest wind 15-25 mph gusting to 35 mph at times.
