Topaz Ranch Estates resident John Flaherty reports a few inches of snow at his place. There was as much snow in the trees as on the ground this morning in Genoa.
Genoa, Nev. — Heavenly Mountain Resort received 13 inches of snow overnight, bringing 2 feet of total snowfall over the last week. Avalanche control is sending booms across the Valley this morning. The Heavenly snow telemetry site shows a foot of snow bringing it to 89 percent of median for today.
As of 7:30 a.m., nvroads.com isn’t showing any road controls, but that could and likely should change as the morning wears on. It definitely snowed in parts of the Valley, with Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin reporting almost an inch after receiving .21 inches.
Alpine County road crews are reporting parking lots have frozen, leaving slick conditions. The rain froze in colder spots and a layer of snow on top of it will make for sketchy driving and walking conditions.
A vehicle is stuck in a snow bank on Highway 88 at Carson Pass this morning. The highway is closed from three miles east of Silver Lake to Kirkwood. CalTrans is reporting that Interstate 80 is closed this morning.
I received word that after resigning from the Topaz Ranch Estates General Improvement District Board on Wednesday night, that Alton Randall was reappointed by a 3-1 vote.

There’s a chance it will snow today before 5 p.m., but we might see some sun, too. The high temperature if forecast to hit 43 degrees with the wind picking up out of the west at 5-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
