Genoa, Nev. — A wind advisory takes effect 11 a.m. today with gusty winds across Western Nevada until 11 p.m. tonight with winds 26-35 mph gusting up to 55 mph, particularly along wind prone areas of Highway 395.
A winter storm warning is in effect for Lake Tahoe through 11 p.m. Thursday. National Weather Service radar showed the brunt of the storm still well on the other side of the Sierra as of 6 a.m. It could be lunchtime before the storm starts to do much.
The resignation of a Topaz Ranch Estates General Improvement District board member Alton Randall goes before the board at their meeting 6 p.m. at the TRE Community Center. Randall was appointed to the seat Jan. 31, 2024, to replace Kaitlyn Insell, who’d resigned.
Clerk-Treasurer Amy Burgans acknowledged this morning there was an error when the ballot was published back in 2024 indicating there were two seats open when there should have been three, including Randall’s. Randall ran in 2024 and came in fourth out of four candidates.
If it’s going to rain in the Valley, that likely won’t happen until around 2 p.m. as the clouds increase. The wind will be out of the south with gusts approaching 50 mph.
