Douglas High School girls track and field won its first league meet of the season at McQueen on Saturday with 82 points.
Grace Strabala won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, posting times of 12.85 and 26.12 in each event. Strabala also won the long jump with a mark of 16-1.
Freshman Bryani Ono was third in the 400 meters in 1:10.36 while Kaylee Bradford took fourth in 1:11.26.
Freshman Krystle Dixon and junior Logan Axtell were third and fourth in the 800.
Dixon, Taylor Chase and Axtell went third, fourth and fifth in the 1,600.
Lucy Nord and Amy Van Wagenen took home the 1-2 spots in the 3,200. Nord (12:46.70) edged Van Wagenen (12:48.52).
Katelyn Coons won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles in 17.52 and 51.10.
Douglas’ 4x400 relay team of Kendall Cole, Coons, Rachel Girdner and Strabala took home the top spot with a time of 4:13.62.
Cole took second in the triple jump with a leap of 30-9.
Kaitlyn Molyneux was second in the high jump with a personal record of 4-10.
Senior Kailynn Dollar was fourth in the discus (74-7) and fifth in the shot put (24-8.75).
Senior Stella White won the pole vault with an 11-foot clearance, her best mark this season.
On the boys side, Douglas took third place with 37 points.
Senior CJ Bera was fourth in the 100-meter dash with a personal record of 11.55. He turned around and posted a 23.21 in the 200 to take third place.
Freshman Nicholas Shannon was fourth in the 200 in 23.41.
In the 400, junior Darryl Hinkle stopped the clock in 55.07 to finish in second place.
Sophomore Noah Johnson was third in the 800 in 2:24. Sage Spencer took second in the 1,600 with a mark of 5:12.69.
Senior Luke Davis won the 3,200 in 10:21.13.
Sophomore Tyler Collins won the 300-meter hurdles in 48.82 and took third in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.30. Dominic Centanni was second in 18.39 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Senior Michael Cahill threw the shot put 38-9.75 for fourth place in the event.
Douglas’ 4x200 meter relay team of Colton Hartline, Mason Rogers, Braden Lenz and Bera took second in 1:35.08. The Tigers’ 4x100 team of Kai Blumenthal, Hartline, Rogers and Bera crossed the line in third in 45.31.
BIG INNING GUIDES LANCERS PAST DOUGLAS
Douglas High baseball was at home Saturday in a non-league contest against McQueen.
The Tigers jumped out to a 9-4 lead after four innings, but the Lancers hung 10 runs on the board in the fifth, going on to win 14-12.
Jackson Ovard got the start on the mound, going four innings with three strikeouts and no earned runs due to Tiger fielding errors.
The senior went 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs in the loss.
Jeffrey Peters was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three RBIs while Tyler Sentell was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk.
The Tigers drew 10 walks.
Three of the Lancers’ 14 runs were earned.
UP NEXT: Douglas (2-1) was at Carson (2-2) on Tuesday. Saturday, the Tigers will travel to Galena (0-1) for an 11 a.m. first pitch.

DOUGLAS SOFTBALL WITH BUSY WEEK
Darkness forced a postponement in Douglas High softball’s first game of the season against Reed.
The Tigers completed that contest Monday afternoon, scoring four runs in the seventh inning to pick up a 12-9 win.
Peyton Simpson and Cameron Coats both homered in the win while Cam McLelland tallied a pair of doubles.
Simpson, Coats and Ava Gildea all recorded two RBIs each in the victory.
Tuesday, Douglas hosted McQueen (2-1) before traveling to Spanish Springs (1-1) Thursday.
Saturday, the Tigers will be home in Minden with a doubleheader against Bishop Manogue (3-0).
SIERRA LUTHERAN SWEPT BY WEST WENDOVER
The Falcon baseball team opened Class 2A North league play last weekend with a three-game set against West Wendover (5-2, 3-0).
The Wolverines won all three contests by scores of 10-8, 18-4 and 6-1.
Sierra Lutheran took a 6-0 lead in the first game, featuring a two-run double from freshman Noah Ramirez. Anton Granata followed with a double that made it 4-0 Falcons. Ramirez and Matt Fahey each tallied two RBIs in game one.
West Wendover scored seven runs in the fourth inning and three total in the fifth and sixth to win the opener.
In game two, Drew Gleiser went 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot while Ramirez, Granata and Tristian Dries each drove in an RBI.
The Falcons tallied two hits in the third game of the series.
UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran (2-4-1, 0-3 in Class 2A North league play) was at home Tuesday against Oasis Academy (3-0, 3-0). The Bighorns will host the Falcons in a doubleheader Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
