Genoa, Nev. — While there are no road controls in effect in Douglas as of 6:30 a.m. today, deputies responded to aid a motorist on Kingsbury at 6:15 a.m. I received a report that the mountain roads are fairly slick, so be careful going over the hill. Daggett Summit is white from what I can see on the Nvroads.com traffic camera and I heard a deputy call for sand over the radio.

Otherwise, Interstate 80 is experiencing some slowdowns over Donner Pass as is Highway 50 on the other side of Echo Summit. The winter weather advisory is in effect for the Sierra until 10 p.m. today.

Rescuers responded to a reported head-on collision on Highway 50 around 8:45 a.m. closing the highway for a bit more than a half-hour. Three lanes were reopened by 9:20 a.m. The NHP reported there was an injury.

A tentative subdivision map for the 29-unit Martin Creek goes before county commissioners 10 a.m. today. The project was already approved before, but the owners decided they wanted to sell the units rather than rent them. It’s a short agenda today, so I expect commissioners will get to the item before lunch.

The Douglas County, Nevada Chapter of the National Organization A Girl & A Gun will be hosting their annual community “Meet and Greet” 6 p.m. Friday at the Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge located at 1227 Kimmerling Road, Gardnerville.

Snow telemetry indicated Heavenly Valley received 11 inches of snow over the last 48 hours. Most of the precipitation fell near the mountains on Wednesday, with .39 inches falling in Ruhenstroth and .36 in Fish Springs. On the other side of Carson Valley, .31 inches was recorded in Fredericksburg and .26 inches in Sheridan, according to the National Weather Service.

Carson Valley might see some snow showers today before 4 p.m., though you wouldn’t know it to go outside this morning. The high temperature is predicted to hit 44 degrees with the wind shifting from southeast to northwest at 5-15 mph.
