University of Iowa freshman Talia Tretton has quickly hopped into the driver’s seat in her first season as a Hawkeye.
In 17 at-bats, Tretton has eight hits, including two doubles, a triple and her first collegiate home run, coming against UL-Lafayette Feb. 22.
The 2024 Douglas Tiger has been even more dominant in the circle where she boasts a 1.70 ERA in 33 innings with 26 strikeouts. She holds a 3-0 record.
As of Thursday afternoon, Iowa was 10-3, having won eight in a row.

WILKINSON SEEING TIME AS FRESHMAN
Haley Wilkinson has taken advantage of the eight at-bats she’s received in her freshman season at Grand Canyon.
The Douglas High graduate is 3-for-8 with a pair of RBIs. Both RBIs came in a 2-for-3 day against Montana.
Grand Canyon has a 12-3 record and the Lopes were receiving votes in the latest NCAA top 25 poll.

DORAN CONTINUES TEAR AT THE PLATE
As a freshman, Corine Doran made a statement at North Idaho College, winning Offensive Player of the Year and helping lead the program to a 44-4 overall record and a 28-0 clip in conference play.
She was also a first team all-region selection in the NWAC at catcher, with 53 RBIs, a .481 batting average and six home runs.
The former Senator finished last season with a .726 slugging percentage along with 11 doubles and two triples.
In nine games this spring, Doran has a 11 hits in 26 at-bats with 10 RBIs and a.769 slugging percentage. She has a double, triple and two home runs.

HUBBARD GOES FIVE STRONG AGAINST HOUSTON CHRISTIAN
University of Texas at San Antonio junior James Hubbard got the nod for his second start of the season Tuesday and pitched a gem against Houston Christian.
In five innings of work, the Douglas High alum struck out seven while allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk.
In seven innings this spring, Hubbard has a 2.57 ERA and a .192 opponent batting average.
UTSA was 7-3 going into the weekend and winner of six straight.

LEE, ROBERTS DOING DAMAGE AT FEATHER RIVER
Feather River College freshman and Douglas High graduate Lilyann Lee had eight RBIs in a two-game doubleheader sweep over Folsom Lake in mid-February.
This season Lee has a .359 batting average and a slugging percentage of .564.
She’s 14-for-39 with two doubles, two home runs and a team-high 16 RBIs – tied for 16th in the CCCAA.
Her fellow Tiger teammate turned Golden Eagle teammate Mya Roberts has seven hits in 27 at-bats with a double and four RBIs.
Feather River is 8-4.
WILLIS GETTING LOOKS AT BELMONT
Douglas High alumni Mackenzie Willis has appeared in seven games in the circle for the Belmont Bruins this spring in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Willis has 14 strikeouts in 17 innings and a 1-2 record.
She’s holding opponents to a .254 batting average in her sophomore season.
Belmont is 10-6.
