Genoa, Nev. — Town Manager Erik Nilssen is recommending the rejection of a $697,183 bid to pave the parking lot of Gardnerville Station at tonight’s town board meeting. With only one bid, Nilssen said waiting until next year might see more interest in the project. The Gardnerville Town Board meets 4:30 p.m. today at 1407 Main St.

Minden-Tahoe Airport advisors will discuss the introduction of tiered landing fees based on maximum takeoff weight with a three-ton threshold. The committee meets 6 p.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St.

Douglas County Parks & Recreation advisors will discuss a small dog park in Johnson Lane, the James Lee Park playground and the Fairgrounds feasibility study at their meeting 6 p.m. today at the Community & Senior Center on Waterloo Lane.

Flame of India, located in the old Sonney’s Barbecue, had an extremely soft opening on Monday night where they served buffet style so people could try a bunch of things.

We got word that today is the last day that Scooter’s Coffee will be open in Minden. First reported in 2022, the kiosk was the first new construction in the Ironwood Center in decades.

East Fork firefighters responded to a report of a plume above the Douglas Disposal Transfer Station around 2:40 p.m. Neither they, nor I, spotted anything. Over the years, I’ve seen many instances where ash devils dance across those hills after a fire.

A trespasser who tried to get into one of the care facilities off Virginia Ranch Road resulted in a short lockdown near there around 10 a.m. Monday. There was no report of injuries, but folks are definitely on edge.

Tahoe-Douglas Marine 24 responded to a report of a smoking boat 200 yards off Nevada Beach around 3:50 p.m. The boaters were able to tie off to a pylon and everyone was reportedly OK.

The chance of thunderstorms has gone up a little bit in the forecast while the high temperature dropped a couple of points to 91. The west wind is predicted to pick up to 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph this afternoon.
