A Feb. 4-7 trial has been set in the case of a man accused of eluding a police officer denied the allegations Monday.
Gerald Jay Borja, 46, is facing charges of eluding a police officer, credit card theft and burglary of a motor vehicle.
Borja invoked his right to a speedy trial within 60 days. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Jan. 31.
He was arrested June 10, 2024, and has been in custody ever since.
Jail records indicate he is also being held on a fugitive warrant out of Contra Costa County in California.
• A man who was in possession of methamphetamine was granted a suspended sentence Monday.
Salvador Gabriel Parsels, 43, was arrested Sept. 18, 2024, in possession of methamphetamine.
Parsels was ordered to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and abide by its recommendations.
On Wednesday, he waived extradition in East Fork Justice Court on a fugitive warrant out of California for charges of injury to a child and probation violation.
• A man who violated terms of his diversion was given a second chance with probation.
According to court documents, Michael Buck was found in possession of a controlled substance during a search and seizure routine. Buck admitted to the possession charge, but claimed the drugs were not his and he did not use them, which a negative drug test proved.
Buck was sentenced to a suspended 12-36 months in prison.
