Thacker, Greenfield lead Tiger all-region selections

Douglas High School basketball had six members of its girls and boys teams earn Class 4A North all-region consideration.

Leading the way on the girls side was senior Ashlyn Greenfield, who posted a team-best 12 points per game alongside 4.6 rebounds per contest.

Greenfield also averaged more than two assists and steals per game.

Last season, Greenfield was a second team selection.

Junior Hailee Koontz was chosen for the second team all-region squad for the second season in a row.

The post player averaged 11 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game. Koontz pulled down a league-leading 296 rebounds, 111 more than second place. She also blocked 2.3 shots per contest.

TIGER BOYS GET FOUR SELECTIONS

Douglas senior Caden Thacker earned his third straight Class 4A North all-region first team honor.

Thacker put together a team-high 15.6 points per game. He averaged two rebounds, two assists and two steals per game as well.

His 374 points and 15.6 points per game average were both third best in the league. Thacker also had 52 steals, which was the fifth most in the league and third best on his team.

Senior Luke Main and junior Trent Ipsen were credited with 56 and 55 swipes this winter, which were second and third most in the league. Both players were honorable mention selections.

Jesse Messick, a senior, also earned his way into an all-region spot with an average of 6.6 points and three boards per contest.
