Fundraising is underway for a Washoe Tribal member who was attacked by dogs on Feb. 2 in Dresslerville.

Anthony Smokey is recovering at Renown Regional Medical Center after he was transported there by East Fork ambulance.

According to a post on gofundme.com, as of Wednesday morning the fundraiser is more than three-quarters of the way toward its $16,000 goal.

Family members said Smokey was checking on an elder when he was attached by multiple pit bulls in the yard.

He received injuries to his head, arms, legs and feet as a result of the attack. The dogs were chased off after neighbors responded to the commotion, with one woman using a baseball bat to drive them away from Smokey, according to a report from a resident.

Smokey is stable and in good spirits, but it will be a long time before he can go back to work, the family said.
