Genoa, Nev. — A presentation on land use, planning and development applications and the roles of Community Development, planning and county commissioners opens today’s Douglas County Planning Commission meeting, 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.
A SpaceX Falcon Launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base was visible in the night skies across the West last night. The rocket carried 23 StarLink satellites into orbit at around 6:10 p.m.
New Chief Alan Ernst is scheduled to be sworn in today as the fifth East Fork Fire Protection District Chief. Ernst has been working for the district for more than a month, shadowing Chief Carlini.

Forecasters are predicting the strongest winter storm of the season will arrive late Wednesday through Friday, with the possibility of heaviest snow in the Sierra on Thursday morning. Snow levels are still in question, so don’t get attached to the idea of snow in the Valley until you see the whites of its flakes.
It's frosty out this morning at 16 degrees. If we could get that cold and the wet to coincide we might get a fair bit of snow. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 43 degrees, with the wind shifting northwest at 5-15 mph this afternoon.
