A man, who admitted to robbing a Gardnerville Ranchos couple in their home over a dog, is in Carson City custody on contempt of court charges.
Matthew Americus Field, 21, had been in Douglas County Jail until Tuesday when he was released to a hold in the capital.
Under a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend Field receive a suspended 10-year prison term at his sentencing on April 1. The maximum sentence for robbery is 15 years.
Field and stepmother Christy Marie Field, 39, of Sparks are accused of entering a Topaz Lane home Oct. 4, 2024, and brandishing a pellet gun.
The robbery was to retrieve Tattles, an emotional support pit bull, attorney Mary Brown said.
Prosecutor Ric Casper said the victims were innocent in the matter.
“This was just one stupid decision after another,” Casper said.
Christy Field waived her preliminary hearing and was ordered to district court to face a charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
She has yet to appear in district court and could decide to deny the charges and have a trial.
Brown said he participated in the theft while under the influence of his stepmother. The couple may provide victim statements at Field’s April 1 sentencing.
• A man’s probation was revoked on Tuesday after he was kicked out of a treatment center.
Lorenzo Phillip Lammers, 47, received 249 days time served in the case, which means he won’t spend much time on his 19-48-month sentence.
“He’d be out quicker if he went to prison,” attorney Brian Filter said, arguing for Lammers to be allowed to go back to treatment.
Prosecutor William Murphy said Lammers, who has served three prison stretches, was not a viable candidate for probation.
“You are not new to the system,” District Judge Tod Young said. “You know better.”
• A tier 3 sex offender faces 19-48 months in prison after he admitted Tuesday that he failed to report his new address on Aug. 29, 2024.
Brian Joseph Young, 50, was arrested Nov. 18, 2024, and has been in custody ever since.
Prosecutors will recommend a suspended sentence with the four years underlying.
According to the Nevada Sex Offender Registry, Young was convicted in Washoe County of statutory sexual seduction and lewdness with a child under the age of 14 on Aug. 1, 2001, in addition to burglary. All three charges were served consecutively, and Young was released on parole in 2017.

He recently received a suspended 12-36-month sentence in Carson City.
• A woman, who sold drugs in 2023, became a drug counselor while awaiting sentencing.
Sarah Midori Erwin, 39, received a suspended 2-5-year sentence on Tuesday after she admitted to felony supplying a controlled substance.
“She went from distributing drugs to someone who counsels drug addicts,” attorney Brian Filter said. “She is not that person anymore. She is an excellent candidate for probation.”
Erwin admitted selling 63 grams of psilocybin mushrooms on April 27 and May 9, 2023.
“I’m aware what I did was wrong, and I regret it,” Erwin said.
Erwin still has to clear a warrant out of Mesquite. In addition to her sentence, she was ordered to do 150 hours community service.
