The work of Gardnerville artist Alanna McDaniel goes on display starting Monday at the Copeland Gallery in Minden.
The exhibit can be viewed 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
McDaniel’s paintings and her knit hats are available for purchase.
The Carson Valley Arts Council will be hosting an artist’s reception 1-3 p.m. Feb. 8. The show will be up until March 28.
The reception is free to the public and refreshments will be served.
McDaniel primarily paints with acrylic paint and uses various glazes, stains, and gels along with the acrylic paint. Some of her work is also done in oils.
She also knits hats as a hobby for many years.
“In a time of celebrating diversity it seems fitting to celebrate our different hats, the different hats we choose to wear,” she said.
McDaniel received her degree in art history and art education from California State University, Northridge. She worked in the art departments of Hughes Aircraft Co. and Paramount Pictures and was an art teacher for more than 20 years.
On Nov. 6, 2024, McDaniel received the 9th Annual Pat Holub Award from the Nevada Artists Association for her mixed media piece "The Good Dog."
Her work is also on display at the Association’s gallery at 449 W. King St. in Carson City on the Brewery Arts Center campus.
Student work from her classes and her own work can be viewed online by searching Art For Life Art Studios.
