Genoa, Nev. — There are chain controls over Daggett and Spooner summits this morning, though they look passable on nvroads.com and the snow plows are out. If you’re going into the Sierra this morning, anticipate some weather issues as a winter storm warning continues.

A wind advisory is in effect through 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today for all of Western Nevada. The forecast calls for south to southwest winds 20-30 mph gusting up to 55 mph in wind-prone areas, or what we in Carson Valley like to call Tuesday.

A proposal to reopen Gardnerville’s recreation plan as it pertains to Mountain View Nature Park will go before the town board 4:30 p.m. today. They are also discussing a proposed 29-unit project near Gardnerville Elementary School. Town board members meet at their offices, 1407 Main St.

Douglas County Parks & Recreation advisors are scheduled to hear an update on the proposal to purchase CV Cinemas 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.

A proposal to raise T-hangar rental rates to match market value or to spread it out over two years goes to the Airport Advisory Committee 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.

East Fork responded to an outbuilding fire off Bobwhite Lane north of Fish Springs around 10:20 a.m. Monday. Both the outbuilding and a vehicle were lost.

If it rains today, that will occur after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The snow level is heading from 7,000 feet to 7,800 feet, which should eliminate most of the mountain road controls.

Today’s high is forecast to hit 58 degrees with the wind out of the south at 15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
