Car show season opens 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with the 12th annual Holy Smokers BBQ & Car Show at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville.

Last year’s show featured 82 entries after it was delayed two weeks due to a winter storm on May 4. This year, there’s a chance of showers on Saturday, but otherwise partly sunny skies, according to the forecast.

Located across Douglas Avenue from the church, the entry fee is $25 with registration starting at 8 a.m.

Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $25 for adults, $10 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. A family of four is $40.

Proceeds benefit local Carson Valley nonprofits.

The main beneficiary this year is the Lutheran Church National Youth Gathering this summer, organizer John Hamer said.

“This is our 12th year and with about 100 cars participating last year, we are looking forward to a successful event this year,” Hamer said.

Other proceeds will be distributed to local non-profits.
