Genoa, Nev. — The weekend storm added 8 inches to the snow depth in Heavenly Valley, according to Natural Resource Conservation Service telemetry. Carson Pass saw 5 inches of new snow while Ebbetts Pass saw 8 inches. Lake Tahoe resident Kirk Walder sent in a photo showing 10 inches of snow at his place.

My first question for Cooperative Extension’s Jessica Gardner at Saturday’s Main Street Gardening Expo was whether the late snow would kill the apple crop. She didn’t think it would, which means we might very well be in for a bumper crop this fall.

Easily two dozen gardeners found their way to Gardnerville Station after the Expo moved indoors thanks to the weather. St. Gall canceled the first day of the spring rummage sale on Saturday, but they will be open 3-6 p.m. today.

School’s back in session today, which means the buses are back on the road. Watch for children at the bus stops and around the schools.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 66 degrees today with the wind picking up out of the north at around 5 mph today.
