Two western Carson Valley golf courses have sold for $6 million to a California company incorporated in Wyoming.

The purchaser is listed as SAC 2 LLC out of Fremont, Calif., but the identities of the new owners remains essentially unknown. According to the listing at the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office, the corporation was formed Nov. 12, 2024. The registered agent is a firm called Registered Agents Inc. at 30 N. Gould St. Suite R, in Sheridan, Wy.

The golf courses went on the market in October 2024 for $8.5 million after a decade owned by Genoa Golf Group IV.

The sale included both Genoa Lakes courses, consisting of 565 acres and a variety of amenities, including restaurants, banquet spaces, wedding venues, and support facilities.

Both of the courses are 18-holes, and between the two there is an established wedding and banquet business, clubhouse, event and wedding facility and tennis courts.

The current owners purchased the property a decade ago for $3.25 million.

There are neighborhoods built up around both of the golf courses, with 220 homes in the southernmost course. There are still homes being built at the Ranch course, further north of Nevada’s oldest town. The sale doesn’t include the surrounding developments.

The southernmost course was built on the former Sierra Creek Ranch about a mile north of town and opened in July 1993.

The Ranch Course was originally known as Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch opened Aug. 1, 1998, on the former Harvey’s Ranch. The property was owned by Ron Simek, who called it Little Mondeaux, when it was developed. Prior to the golf course community it was home to a shooting range in the early 1990s.
