A convicted felon is in custody on a warrant issued in connection with what appears to be a road rage in an Oct. 21, 2024, collision in the Pine Nuts.

Cassidy Wayne Carson, 31, is being held on charges of battery with a deadly weapon and reckless driving causing substantial bodily harm.

He appeared in East Fork Justice Court last week where bail was set at $8,000 bondable or $2,000 cash.

Carson was the driver of a Kia that allegedly deliberately struck an Impala as it was passing him on Highway 395 in what appears to be a road rage incident.

According to the report, the driver of the other vehicle said the black Kia was tailgating him on Highway 395 southbound and at some point passed him.

The Kia then started brake checking him until he tried to pass it and it reportedly struck the rear quarter panel, causing the driver to lose control and roll the vehicle just south of the rest stop near Carlin Road. One of the occupants suffered from a severe head injury as a result of the collision.

Carson was seen by a Samaritan yelling at the occupants of the Impala, according to the sheriff’s report. According to the Impala’s occupants he said, “That’s what you get.”

One of the occupants fired a cap pistol at Cassidy, according to the report. The Samaritan followed the Kia to the Topaz Lodge and reported the license plate.

Carson was stopped in Mono County at Highway 395 near Mono City where he was taken into custody. Photos of the Kia transmitted to Douglas County indicated paint transfer from a vehicle the same color as the white Impala.

Carson has felony convictions out of Elko, including possession of a controlled substance, DUI and making counterfeit money, according to Nevada Department of Corrections records. His last parole hearing was in 2022.
