Highway 4 has been opened to the Raymond Meadows Gate as CalTrans continues to clear the road to Ebbetts Pass. They’ve reported about 1-2 miles a day progress, encountering 8-foot-deep snow and fallen trees.
There’s 39 inches of snow left to melt off on Carson Pass and 41 inches at Ebbetts Pass on this Earth Day morning, according to the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The West Fork of the Carson River at Woodfords is expected to brush up against its 12.5-foot action stage this week, with 12.3 feet forecast for 1 a.m. Wednesday. The East Fork is forecast to come in about 2 feet short its action stage.
The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 73 degrees. The wind is expected to pick up out of the west at 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
