Carson Valley Arts Council has been funding $300-$1,000 grants to Douglas County art, drama and music teachers for the past seven years thanks to its donors and supporters.

Past projects have included curriculum, repairing instruments, art supplies, sheet music, new instruments (drums), art murals at the schools, digital curriculum, and a clay extruder.

In 2018, the Carson Valley Arts Council began its Arts Mini-grant program for Douglas County teachers and schools. Every year music, art, and drama teachers are encouraged to submit proposals twice per school year for projects in their classes.

Recently funded projects included partial funding for a field trip for Douglas High School students to University of Nevada School of Art to see winning art in the Scholastic Awards and the Nevada Museum of Art and funds for a pottery wheel at Whittell High School.

Community donations make these mini-grants possible.

Additional funds from Carson Valley Arts Council have brought the Missoula Children’s Theatre multiple times to five local elementary schools since 2018.

Most recently was Pinocchio at Gardnerville and Minden Elementary schools. Individuals interested in supporting the Carson Valley Arts Council’s youth arts outreach can visit their website https://www.cvartscouncil.com/donate-today for donation options.
