Genoa, Nev. — A lunchtime Easter collision at Muller Lane and Highway 395 snarled traffic and resulted in a transport for treatment. It was the second collision in around an hour after another around 11 a.m. Sunday at Stephanie and Highway 395. A third collision occurred at Johnson and Vicky lanes around 3:20 p.m.
It's spring break in Douglas County, so the schools are out this week. While the buses won’t be out and about, the children most certainly will be as they go to parks, pool and other places looking for something to do.
Road work season is well underway with a two-season paving project at Highway 50. CalTrans is conducting road striping 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on highways 88 and 89 this week.
The trees and brush are blooming all over the county, with the pink desert peach dominating even the buck brush in places. The fruit trees are also blooming, which means we might have a big crop this fall.
The spring bloom usually doesn’t affect my allergies, but this year seems to be the exception. Pollen counts for trees in Western Nevada are running high.
Nothing in the forecast is going to slow any of that down today, with sunny skies and a high temperature near 72 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the west at around 5 mph.
