Douglas High School baseball took care of Reed in Minden last Thursday by a final of 9-2.
Junior starting pitcher Grayson Kamper tossed six innings and struck out a pair while limiting the Raiders to one hit and two unearned runs.
Kamper’s first-pitch curveball allowed him to get in front of a majority of hitters.
“I feel like I can throw a lot of first-pitch strikes,” said Kamper.
Douglas’ offense rallied around him in the fifth, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead.
Luke Main led off the fifth with his first of two singles on the day. Jared Peters singled him in after Jeffrey Peters was intentionally walked.
Three hitters later, Tyler Sentell lined a three-run double off the wall in left field.
Main, who finished 2-for-2 with two walks, stole his fifth base of the season in the fifth inning.
“I feel pretty good. I think that confidence is slowly building up. I was like timid in the first inning, but then as I start going, I started feeling and stealing bases,” Main said.
In the sixth, Main again led off with a single, setting up an RBI double for fellow senior Jackson Ovard. Titus Gocke and Blaine Bilderback each knocked in a run at the plate in the sixth to give Douglas a 9-2 edge.
Saturday, Douglas fell in a league battle against Spanish Springs, 9-2.
Jeffrey Peters went 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI while Gocke recorded a double.
Second baseman Brock Tholen also tallied an RBI.
The Tigers were charged with four errors.
