• A California woman with three DUI offenses was granted diversion Monday.

Samantha Lynn Abbott, 36, was arrested Feb. 19 while driving under the influence with an alcohol content of .215.

According to court documents, two 1 ounce vodka bottles were in the center console and 7 more were located under the passager seat.

Douglas County District Court Thomas Gregory said Abbott was a danger to society.

“The fact that you had an alcohol level of .215 and no driving pattern or accident speaks volumes of your alcohol level,” he said. “And hearing things like you have full responsibility of your children, yet one of the DUIs, you had your child in the vehicle, or your attorney saying, ‘just give her a chance,’ you have had several chances. So, I hope you understand the opportunity you have here.”

Abbott was granted diversion and supervision up to 5 years. She was ordered to have an interlock device installed in her vehicle and must attend DUI court starting Sept. 23.
